No fuel in Chippenham WHAT A JOKEThey say we are just 9 meals away from the breakdown of society and how right that person was.
after just 24 hours of the tanker drivers strike and an announcement not to panic buy the garages in Chippenham were coming to a stand still. and by Saturday night all garages were displaying NO FUEL. I was quite lucky as I checked on the internet and found the Murco garage in Hullavington had plenty. did I fill my car up ?, no. just the normal £20 a week of diesel.
if I didnt get any fuel would I have coped, definately as out of the garage would have come my faithfull bicycle. and how many of the mums in their 4x4s would have decided to walk little Tommy the 200 yards to work. or the 50 yards to the shop to get their sherry and fags.
Wouldnt mind if we actually had a real fuel shortage, wonder how many people would start feeling a bit fitter.

Hope they got some by Saturday night. I got a date.

agreed, it was really pathetic, especially as villages outside Chippenham seemed not to suffer.

I didn't really notice the effect until Sunday when I popped to Chippenham and there was a very long queue at the garage by the Hungry Horse - fortunately I filled up Thursday evening prior to the strike
